IOOH22-Workshops

This winter, celebrate and explore women's wellness through a holistic lens with this virtual workshop series.

When women take our health into our own hands, we have ourselves to rely on and can better persist in trying times. Join us for this engaging  virtual Women’s Wellness Series where we’ll learn how to discover our own voices, nourish ourselves, and partner with herbal medicine to heal ourselves and those around us. Give yourself (or someone you love) the gift of knowledge and self-care this winter! All levels of experience are welcome.

We encourage you to explore all workshops as this series takes a holistic approach to women's health. However, classes can be taken individually. Each three-hour session will open with a few minutes of grounding meditation. Recordings are included in the registration price and will be sent following the conclusion of the series.

Workshops

All workshops in the In Our Own Hands Women's Wellness series are held virtually via Zoom and are three hours in length, happening every other Saturday beginning in January 2023.

Grounding the Awakening Feminine: Now is OUR Time! | Brooke Medicine Eagle

Saturday, January 7, 2023 | 1pm-4pm CST

In 1993 male elders in primary traditions around the world handed the wands of power to the Grandmothers saying - NOW IS YOUR TIME; NOW IS THE TIME OF THE FEMININE. That means that Now is OUR time to awaken and ground this remarkable energy in our own bodies, our work, and our world, and it is critical for All Life that we do so. Brooke has focused on bringing forward the Feminine ~ beginning with powerful visions during her tradition quest on Bear Butte; gathering information from female elders around the world; bringing forth indigenous moon-time practices 25 years ago; and continues to deepen her understanding of Feminine aliveness, health and vital service to our world in this critical time. With this essential wisdom, you will find yourself empowered, uplifted and activated to move forward with beauty, grace, and power!

Herbs & Archetypes for Mental Health | Linda Conroy

Saturday, January 21, 2023 | 1pm-4pm CST

The Wise Woman Tradition of healing invites us to engage on many levels in order to encourage flexibility, adaptability, and resilience. It also invites us to pair our own experience with knowledge that we gather in order to care for ourselves. With the pressures of modern life, the ability to maintain our equilibrium is often challenged. When we are stressed, depressed, anxious, grieving or just plain tired, enlisting herbal allies and feminine archetypes are two tools that can work to strengthen our resolve and support our capacity to stay engaged. Join herbalist Linda Conroy for this engaging and informative session. Through presentation, small group discussion and writing exercises participants will be introduced to herbal, mushroom, and archetypal allies. Participants will leave with practical, engaging, and inspiring tools that they can easily incorporate into everyday life. Participants are invited to bring a cup of oat straw infusion, a cup of chamomile tea, and a notebook to the session, which will be used during an experiential part of this session. Instructions for preparing infusions and tea will be provided prior to the session.

Rosemary will share her story about how one shy farm girl decided to change her world (and succeeded!) and share with you ways that you can also manifest dreams of your own. There will also be an opportunity to ask herbal questions and share your herbal stories.

Cherishing the Ancestors | Caitlín Matthews

Saturday, February 18, 2023 | 1pm-4pm CST

Very many of our current problems are concatenated by the admixture of ancestral difficulties that have never been addressed. These patterns can run unchecked through family lines, recurring and resonating down the generations. In this workshop, we will explore what the ancestors are, and strive to come into a better relationship with the Deep Ancestors – the collective of our ancient ancestors who now form a strong and supportive group – so that we can begin to cherish and help those in-between ancestors in our family who have not found rest or who are still stuck in time awaiting an intervention that will enable them to enter eternity. We will also explore ways to cherish all the ancestors in an ongoing way as part of our spiritual practice.

Emerging from the Cave: Stoking the Rising Fire | Mimi Hernandez

Saturday, March 4, 2023 | 1pm-4pm CDT

Spring ushers in a time when Mother Earth takes a big stretch, delving deep with penetrating roots and rising up with fresh green growth. The land sweetens its springtime roots to ground our core while tender green leaves nourish our expansive energy. The creative flow is palpable as we embody this emergence from winter in preparation for the summer ahead. We will learn about spring tonic remedies that help revitalize the liver, nourish the adrenals, and refresh the mind as we walk to the rhythm of the seasons to manifest wellness through the year ahead. We will explore liver health through herbs like dandelion, burdock, and artichoke leaf. We will also look at nourishing greens like cleavers, chickweed and violet. And we will look at traditional spring tonics including sassafras and nettles. Springtime is an important time to get well grounded so we can reach out from a stable place. Mimi will also share a few favorite springtime recipes!

What do Magic Makers do with all those Herbs? | Angela Smith

Saturday, April 1, 2023 | 1pm-4pm CDT

Take a magical journey with me in the kitchen as we look at the Old Ways done in New Times. Making magical potions has changed but in many ways stayed the same. Our modern tools make it easier to practice especially when we allow the wisdom of our ancestors to guide us as we work with roots and herbs in alignment with celestial correspondences and the magic of place. Together we will learn about the herbs and roots used to make conjure Oils, Powders, and Waters and create potions in Love, Health, Wealth, and Releasing. We will even look at how locations matter in using soil in some of our formulations. You will leave with recipes you have created and we will share resources to find some of these amazing herbs and roots. Gather your books!
