Impact Statement
In addition to organizing the annual conference, Midwest Women's Herbal has partnered on 3 occasions with United Plant Savers by bringing a day-long herbal conference to the driftless region of the midwest. This partnership has served as a grassroots launching point for more herbal events in this region. Midwest Women's Herbal also hosts Mycelium Mysteries: A Women's Mushroom Conference, the first-ever women's mushroom event in the world. This upcoming Fall 2024, Mycelium Mysteries, will be entering into its 8th year.
The pandemic also brought us into the virtual realm, as we have produced several conferences virtually and continue to host the In Our Own Hands, Women's Wellness Series. In 2024, we enter our 4th year of this winter series, featuring herbalists and healers from around the world and bringing skills and community to the women who participate.
In addition, the Midwest Women's Herbal team has brought herbal immersion trainings to deepen access to advanced herbal education. The Midwest Women's Herbal Conference has held workshops such as: Reading the Body Immersion with Margi Flint and a Death Doula certification training with Rebekah Dawn and Kari Kercher. For many years, Midwest Women's Herbal has offered these unique training opportunities.
Other event coordinators in the region have recognized our strong organizing skills by consulting with us on the logistics of putting on a large event. We have supported and partnered with the region's newer herbal events, as well as other national conferences, and our long-term program coordinators, have applied what they learned by working with the conference, to launch events in their communities. The Midwest is becoming a very rich place for herbalists to congregate and we are proud to be paving the way!
